Jacksonville Urban League’s Youth Employment Services Program

The Y.E.S. program from the Jacksonville Urban League, Inc. provides youth and young adults between the ages of 16 and 21 from Duval and surrounding counties with a six-week (paid!) summer internship in both non-profit and for profit organizations to gain valuable and memorable work experience.

Interns will be introduced to a World of Work that will not only provide a paycheck, but with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to lay a lasting foundation to a rewarding career.

All interns will attend two days of orientation and training workshops on Workplace Ethics and "How to Survive Employment."

Once placed on the job, participants will attend a series of training workshops hosted by Adecco in Jacksonville, including the Birkman Personality Assessment, Diversity Training (Unconscious Biases), Professionalism in the Workplace, Resume Writing and Social Media Profiling.

The internship also includes participation in a community service project at the Jacksonville Urban League.

Prospective applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to apply:

  • Have a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Have documented proof on provider’s letterhead for completion of a minimum of 35 community service hours
  • A Resume indicating prior work experience and or volunteer job description

Selected applicants will be part of two interview sessions, and upon selection will be placed in one or more of the following positions: Administrative (clerical); Finance, Marketing, Small Business Development, Social Service Programming, and Summer Camp (Camp Counselors and Curriculum Facilitators) in non-profit agencies.
